Robbie Morris joined Grasstime® in the Fall of 2014 as guitar flatpicker, banjo player and vocalist. A multi- instrumentalist he grew up listening and playing bluegrass. As a child he grew up to be a fan of Jerry Garcia, The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, The Grateful Dead, Jim and Jesse, Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, Jimmy Martin and so many others.
Very proud of his Appalachian roots that date back to the 1700's in the New River Valley area of Southwest Virginia. He's been picking Bluegrass music since he was 7 years old and it has been passed down through generations of people in his family.
Robbie is the youngest of 6 kids (and everyone sings). Coming from a large musical family on both his mom and dad's side, he recalls singing in church at 6 years old. Still remembers the nervousness!! Grew up playing traditional bluegrass, old time and country music with his dad, Hensel Morris. Blessed and thankful to have played music with his dad for over 40 years!
Robbie and his wife have lived in Nashville for 23 years and considers it such an honor for Grasstime® to be able to introduce people to the music that he grew up with from the founders of such an epic saga of American Music history.
In his words "Mountain and Bluegrass music are MY wonderful cultural heritage. "
